The distance framework
The public HYROX race concept uses eight 1km running sections, interleaved with eight functional stations. That gives athletes 8km of running inside the wider event—not a standalone 8km road race.
Important: exact station standards, loads and divisions are not universal. Verify the current official information before making a race-specific plan.
Station order at a glance
- 01 — SkiErg: a controlled opening effort and breathing reset.
- 02 — Sled push: traction, posture and lower-body strength endurance.
- 03 — Sled pull: pulling control, trunk organisation and patience.
- 04 — Burpee broad jumps: cadence and movement efficiency.
- 05 — Row: a mid-race rhythm and transition reset.
- 06 — Farmers carry: grip, trunk and purposeful movement.
- 07 — Sandbag lunges: lower-body durability late in the race.
- 08 — Wall balls: a pre-decided sustainable finish strategy.
Use distance information intelligently
Do not turn the 8km figure into a promise about your result. Instead, combine it with your current running marker and your ability to return to running after work. The pace calculator is designed as an allocation heuristic for that conversation.
